Ivan Shishkov: The important thing is that construction is underway on the Byala Bypass – you all saw it

“The important thing is that construction is taking place here – you all saw it. This site must be completed no later than the end of 2028. It is co-financed by the EU, an extremely important infrastructure site!” This was said by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Shishkov during an inspection of Lot 2 of the Ruse-Veliko Tarnovo Motorway, at the Byala Bypass, which was attended by the builders, representatives of the RIA, local authorities and journalists.
The section is being built by a consortium that includes the leading road construction companies in Bulgaria – “Groma Hold”, “European Roads”, “Eterna Construction”, “Vitez Prospect” and “Patproekt 2000”.
“We will speed up the continuation of this site – from the Byala bypass to Veliko Tarnovo – a PUP will be assigned in about 30-40 days,” the minister promised.

“You yourself have seen for yourself that the construction of infrastructure sites is extremely serious – complex facilities, including one of the viaducts above us, we will of course constantly check – this is what you can expect from us from now on.”

The Minister also commented on the challenge of construction on loess soils, which dominate the area. “A little further down is one of the large viaducts, which has been built in recent years. Of course, there are challenges in construction. The question is for the state and the builders to respond adequately to this challenge. I am here today and do not think that we do not constantly hold joint meetings at a technical level – once with the RIA, the second time with the builders,” the Minister explained.

Lot 2 of the Ruse – Veliko Tarnovo motorway has a total length of 35.4 km, with four lanes for active traffic, two lanes for emergency braking and an intended design speed of 120 km/h.
