“Groma Hold” completely renovated the Curved Tunnel in the Kresna Gorge

In exactly one week, “Groma Hold” completely renovated the Curved Tunnel in the Kresna Gorge. The company is one of the few in the country that has the potential to carry out this repair work to a high standard within a short time frame and without disrupting traffic on one of the busiest roads in Bulgaria. This deadline was set by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov for the head of the Road Infrastructure Agency, Eng. Yordan Valchev.

The company cleaned, washed, and painted the tunnel. New guide, main, and adaptive lighting was installed. The area lighting at the entrance and exit of the tunnel was restored, and two new lighting poles were installed. New asphalt pavement and horizontal markings were also laid.

“People going through the Curved Tunnel in the Kresna Gorge in both directions will have a more comfortable ride, and regular maintenance of these kinds of road facilities is super important for traffic safety,” say the folks at “Groma Hold”.

The company also replaced about 100 damaged bollards in the Kresna Gorge, paving the way for the upcoming busy traffic season to and from the border with Greece. The new bollards are 1 m high, instead of the previous 75 cm, in accordance with changes in regulations. Their installation three years ago significantly reduced traffic accidents in the area.
